My wife and I thought Port Moody would be the perfect place to raise a family so we settled in Moody Centre in 1998. I am now the proud father of three with two having graduated from Moody Secondary and one left to go! Being a hands-on person, I designed and built our home in the heart of Moody Centre, a short walk from the picturesque Rocky Point Park where you can often find me jogging, cycling or enjoying a sunset from the pier. Over the last three decades, I've built and maintained two successful small businesses, working as a provincially accredited goldsmith and as a music industry professional, making the 'City of the Arts' the perfect place to call home. After being elected as a Councillor in 2018, I relaxed my work commitments so I could better focus my time and energy on the city business. I regularly participate in local events and maintained the highest participation rate on the Council during my term.
My first interaction with Port Moody’s City Hall was when I applied for a building permit to construct our first home in Moody Centre. Shortly after moving into our new home, a neighbour encouraged me to join the Moody Centre Community Association (MCCA) where I later served as a board director. The first time I spoke in front of the City Council was in the late 90s when I spoke in opposition to Mayor Marusyk and Councillor Trasolini’s plan to purchase McBarge and dredge out the environmentally sensitive inlet to accommodate it. I later became an active member of the Citizen Advisory Group.
After becoming dissatisfied with the city’s trajectory of excessive construction, seemingly unfettered population growth, and growing frustration at the then Council’s desire to sell its strategically located city-owned lands, I decided to make my inaugural run for a seat on the Council in 2018. I was elected that year and proudly served the community as a City Councillor until the end of my term in 2022. During my term, I served as:
In 2022, I put my name forward to be the next Mayor of Port Moody. My goal was to provide leadership to guide future growth in a way that protected what we love about this beautiful city and its strong sense of community that makes it the place we all cherish. To those who put their faith in me on election day, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
