About Steve

Port Moody has been home for over 25 years. My wife and I settled in Moody Centre in 1998 to raise our family, and it's a decision I've never once regretted. All three of our children have now graduated from Moody Secondary. I designed and built our home here, a short walk from Rocky Point Park, where you'll still find me jogging, cycling, or catching a sunset from the pier. Port Moody drew us here for the same reasons it draws so many families: the trails, the inlet, the mountains on the horizon, and the sense that you can step outside your front door and be in nature within minutes. That connection to the outdoors isn't incidental to this community. It's the foundation of it. Protecting it as the city grows isn't just good planning. It's what residents deserve.

Over the years, I've built and sustained several successful ventures: as a provincially accredited goldsmith, as a music industry professional, and more recently in property management. That work has given me a ground-level understanding of what responsible stewardship looks like: maintaining what exists, protecting its value, and making sound financial decisions for the long term. A large part of my portfolio is commercial, and I work closely with small business tenants, helping them navigate the financial realities of running a business and become stable, successful members of their communities. I know what city decisions around zoning, taxation, and development actually cost the people who live and work here.

My civic involvement started long before I ran for office. A neighbour's nudge to join the Moody Centre Community Association set me on a path of community engagement that never stopped. I went on to serve as a board director, became an active member of the Citizen Advisory Group, and first spoke before Council in the late 1990s to oppose a plan to dredge the environmentally sensitive inlet.

In 2018, I ran for Council because I believed Port Moody needed a stronger voice against excessive densification, the proposed sale of strategically located city-owned lands, and unchecked population growth. I was elected. I got to work.

I maintained the highest participation rate on Council throughout my entire term. Over four years, I served as Chair, Vice Chair, or Representative on ten committees and panels:

In 2022 I ran for Mayor, believing Port Moody needed someone willing to put residents first. To everyone who supported that campaign: thank you. Since then, I've remained actively engaged, speaking before Council and advocating for residents on the issues that matter most to this community.

With your support, I want to return to where I can be most effective: at the Council table. I know how City Hall operates. I know the files, the committees, and the issues facing this community. Port Moody deserves councillors who are ready to contribute from day one. I am ready.
